CIU is aware of a spate of energy brokers currently recommending early renewal of contracts that don’t expire until 2023. Although it is true that prices for winter-23 are currently lower than winter-22, this is reflective of how the market values those contracts today, and there is no logic that suggests they will rise to the same level as the time approaches. It is possible, but by no means certain.
What is true however, is that some energy brokers will want to secure future business as early as possible, and it is important to factor this into your thinking when taking their advice.
